Why Use Smart Bond by Loreal?

Our customers are asking why we use Smart bond? At Savvy, we love Smart Bond as it is insurance for your hair, and the results are incredible.

Why is it insurance for your hair?

Smart Bond is a new technology that revolutionises the strength of your hair after you have a colour service. It works by strengthening your hair as you colour it.

How does it work? Well, it comes in two parts – Part A and Part B!

Part A works as an additive that is added to your colour when you’re in the salon to help prevent further damage to your hair. The hair fibres and cortex are made up of keratin chains, and bonds link these.

The point of Smart Bond is to strengthen these bonds to improve the quality, feel and look of the hair.

Why do you need it?

Colouring the hair weakens it due to from oxidation. Bonds in the hair can’t reform because the ions have been damaged. Smart Bond addresses these issues by targeting the weaker parts of the hair bond to strengthen and limit stress to keep the bond intact.

It also assists in improving the overall finish of your hair colour as this will take more evenly.

Reconstruct the weak ion bonds to reverse the feel of damaged hair. We highly recommend this for our clients who bleach or lightened their hair. Not only will it adapt to colour, it protects it without affecting the lift or tone at all.

How does it work? Smartbond is added to your colour when mixed and applied as standard. This colour processes for the usual time. When the colour is ready to come off the hair is rinsed without shampoo and towel dried.

Smart bond (Part B) is applied to pre-shampoo hair after being towel dyed. It is used all over the hair evenly for 10 minutes (do not use a hot towel to the Smart Bond).

It is then rinsed, and shampoo and conditioner are applied as usual. This in Salon treatment cost $30.00 on top of your colour service. We strongly recommend the Smart Bond treatment that you do once a week to protect the bonds at home.

If this missed the hair will revert to the original condition before Smart Bond. The conditioner can be bought at Savvy Hair Artistry for $45. Just ask your Savvy hairdresser about it at your next visit #bondwithyourbestie

Getting your hair healthy after a beach holiday!

Well, the Christmas holidays are over, and we hope you took the time to unwind and relax. We know we did! Now, with the formalities out of the way – how is the hair looking? Is your skin okay? We’re thinking you might have gotten away to the beach for a few days and that hair and skincare routine you stuck to might have been thrown out the window!

Fair enough, too!

However, now you’re back into the grind, it’s time to put some time aside for some self-care. We’re thinking a wash, trim and blowdry.

Maybe a skin treatment and massage too> We’ve got you covered at Savvy with a comprehensive range of hair care, skin care, and massage to get you feeling and looking great.

If you’re not ready to drop in and see us, we’ve got some tips for how you can get your hair on its way back to health:

  1. Personalised hair conditioner for your needs – find one that protects your hair while you’re out during the day when your hair is exposed to climate and the stress we put our hair into with day to day life!
  2. Use a heat protectant – if your hair really is damaged, we recommend booking in straight away, however, if you can’t we recommend you do not do anything that can damage it further. This means no heat-styling, teasing and no hairsprays! If you must use something, look at a protectant that protects your hair from heat.
  3. Pick up a treatment – If you have coloured hair, or it is highly sensitised – pre-lighten and coloured hair are notorious for damaging bonds which is why keratin treatments are so popular. There are some stay at home treatments we can offer in the lead up to your next appointment or maintain hair during the visit – just talk to one of our Savvy team members.

Remember, invest in your hair as it the only crown that doesn’t come off

The Silly Season Might Be Upon Us, But Don’t Get Caught Out Being Silly!

Christmas is just around the corner, and wit that comes busy salons and most likely hard to find appointments! It’s always this time of the year that we find our clients and other customers make some big mistakes when it comes to getting their hair ready for the festive holidays.

Yes, you might find it a bit more difficult to get in a convenient time to book in, but that does not mean you should be taking risks when it comes to your hair! This could mean bleaching your own hair for that ‘beach blonde’ look, or having a ‘friend’ cut your hair because your salon is too busy to slot you in.

One of the more common mistakes we see clients making is trying to bleach their own hair if they can’t get an appointment in time. There is a reason bleaching hair should be completed by trained professionals, like your regular Savvy team member! Your hair can quite literally melt and fall out of your scalp if you do it incorrectly or if you use a product that is not compatible!

Don’t believe us? Check out the results of this lady’s home bleach job.

You might even be left with burns that will not only be painful, but unsightly too and most likely ruin your holidays!

Do not attempt to do this at home. Give Savvy a call and we’ll see if we can find you a slot.

The same can be said with dying or colouring your hair. Sure, your hair isn’t going to melt or fall out, but you might be left with results that leave a lot to be desired (as well as looking like a ‘home’ job). Ultimately, you’ll have to come back to the salon, and we’ll have to fix it for you – costing you more time and money than if you’d have just slotted some time to come in and see us!

Finally, we also hear of a few incidents where, rather than visiting the salon for a quick cut and style, women might get a friend to do a quick trim to get through the holiday period. Again, this is a risky venture and might result in you being the butt of some jokes over the holidays.

Just check out the results of this home job and let us know what you think!

So, if you haven’t got your salon session booked in, and you’re thinking about taking some risks -don’t! Get on the phone to Savvy now and book in – we’ll make sure your holidays are a pleasant experience (and not you covering up your very own hair nightmare).

Looking after your hair after a visit!

Savvy hair tips and tricks to keep your hair looking the best in-between visits

So, you’ve just spent a couple of hours at your favourite salon getting your hair done? Don’t waste all that time, money and effort by avoiding proper hair care or doing it incorrectly! We’ve got some practical tips that you can use daily to look after your hair post-treatment, depending on what it is.

After a style cut – to maximise your results and make it last as long as possible avoid touching your hair frequently as you might pass on impurities and oils from your fingertips into your hair. What happens if this happens? Well, it’ll cause your hair to get dirtier and weigh it down unnecessarily, impacting on the volume of the hair. Always consult with your hairdresser that your home care/aftercare is precisely right for you and you know how to use it.

When is hair damaged?  Fixing damaged hair isn’t cheap, and it’s certainly not quick to go through! The lastest insurance for your hair is SmartBond as it has been designed for loreal professional to work as an insurance policy for your hair and rebonds your hair, the take-home treatment is $54.95

Maximising your treatment – To maximise the results of your treatment, and ensure your hair remains healthy, shampoo (shampoo 2) it only when necessary and consider weekly treatments. Always leave the treatment in for 10 minutes before rinsing. If you’re struggling for time to visit your salon for a style cut to remove your own split ends – this will ensure they do not travel up each hair strand

After colour treatment  – take into account that vibrant hair colours will be more maintenance but generally. Consult your hairdresser for the write home care, for example, what shampoos, conditioners, treatments and styling products are right for your newly coloured hair! Picking the right one will go a long way to getting better results in your hair. Allow 48hours before washing your hair

Chemical services – just spent a few hours in the chair getting your hair Kertain/ straightened? Avoid wasting those efforts by accidentally creating a curl in those straight locks by avoiding washing or water in general for at least 48hours to allow the bonds to set in! Do not use a hair tie or headband as it can leaves marks on the hair strand. Make sure you invest in products designed for straight hair – post-treatment a hair treatment is to be done every week a week after service to prolong the chemical service

These are just some basic tips that can help you get the most out of your treatment! If you’d like to learn more about our aftercare range, just ask one of our experienced Savvy team members and. They’ll be happy to answer any of your questions!

Sustainable? Yes!

Savvy Hair Artistry is excited to announce that we are now a sustainable salon! Yes, you heard us correctly; we’re going green.

Why is this a big deal?

Well, we think that everyone has a role to play in minimising our environmental footprint and we wanted to play our part by adopting sustainable salon methods.

How did Savvy Hair Artistry become a Sustainable Salon?

What’s involved in becoming a sustainable salon you ask? Well the first thing we did is get in touch with the team at Sustainable Salons and talk to them about we needed to do to join their amazing organisation and there were a few things we had to implement including:

  • Utilising their in-salon separation bins and outside collection bins
  • Recycle hair clippings which are collected from salon floor and stuffed into stockings to make hair brooms used in cleaning up oil spills as well as being used for composting
  • Adopt the usage of eco-cleaning products, recycled toilet paper, biodegradable coffee pods, towels and gloves!

We got into action and we’ve made salon wide changes to tick all the boxes.

We’re incredibly excited to be recognised as a sustainable salon and making a bit of a difference.

Sustainable Salons also works in partnership with the Endeavour Foundation, employing those with a disability in their material collection and processing teams. This provides them with meaningful work and allows them to build their own futures and become independent.

ghd Oracle Review by Savvy

Well, the review is in and we are confident in saying that the new ghd Oracle Curler is a game changer! The Savvy team have been putting this fantastic new tool to good use at the salon, and so far, the results have been unbelievable.

Yes, ghd have owned the hair straightening market for a long period of time, but when we heard about the Oracle, we got excited. Their commitment to hair technology and the quality of the devices they manufacture has always been industry-leading, so we knew their foray into the curling space would be nothing short of a premium experience.

When ghd brought this to the market they made some bold claims ““Introducing ghd oracle; the first curler that allows you to create an infinite array of curls with just a slight tilt of the hand. This latest breakthrough in styling technology opens up endless curling possibilities and even helps create looks that have never been seen before”.

Well, we put these claims to the test and boy we were impressed.

Wet get a variety of different hair types coming through the salon each day, so we had a great group to give it a whirl on. We found that the Oracle allowed us to curl very easily, in some instances with just one stroke. It didn’t matter what section of hair we were styling, we were able to execute a wide range of different curls; from loose and beach to tight and more uniformed.

Being a busy salon, we need to be able to take our client’s brief and get it right from the get-go. We found that not only were our clients happy with their curls, but we also managed to get the curling process done far more efficiently, with less back and forth!

The Oracle has not just ‘come to market’ – it’s been developed over a period of six years, so the technology is proven and reliable.

However, as with all hairdressing devices, it’s important you seek guidance from your hairdressing professional on how best to use it! With a range of settings, and the ability to style and set with the cold and hot functions, it can go wrong if you don’t know what you’re doing.

As an exclusive ghd partner salon, Savvy is proud t be offering the Oracle for sale. With each purchase, you’ll get 20% of your col and a free tutorial with your hair professional, who has been trained to use the device properly.

If you’re looking for a curler that delivers salon-quality results from home, we recommend the Oracle. Get in touch today to purchase or learn more.

Our final review for this?

We’re awarding it five golden stars for its ease of use and the quality build.
