Looking after your hair after a visit!

Savvy hair tips and tricks to keep your hair looking the best in-between visits

So, you’ve just spent a couple of hours at your favourite salon getting your hair done? Don’t waste all that time, money and effort by avoiding proper hair care or doing it incorrectly! We’ve got some practical tips that you can use daily to look after your hair post-treatment, depending on what it is.

After a style cut – to maximise your results and make it last as long as possible avoid touching your hair frequently as you might pass on impurities and oils from your fingertips into your hair. What happens if this happens? Well, it’ll cause your hair to get dirtier and weigh it down unnecessarily, impacting on the volume of the hair. Always consult with your hairdresser that your home care/aftercare is precisely right for you and you know how to use it.

When is hair damaged?  Fixing damaged hair isn’t cheap, and it’s certainly not quick to go through! The lastest insurance for your hair is SmartBond as it has been designed for loreal professional to work as an insurance policy for your hair and rebonds your hair, the take-home treatment is $54.95

Maximising your treatment – To maximise the results of your treatment, and ensure your hair remains healthy, shampoo (shampoo 2) it only when necessary and consider weekly treatments. Always leave the treatment in for 10 minutes before rinsing. If you’re struggling for time to visit your salon for a style cut to remove your own split ends – this will ensure they do not travel up each hair strand

After colour treatment  – take into account that vibrant hair colours will be more maintenance but generally. Consult your hairdresser for the write home care, for example, what shampoos, conditioners, treatments and styling products are right for your newly coloured hair! Picking the right one will go a long way to getting better results in your hair. Allow 48hours before washing your hair

Chemical services – just spent a few hours in the chair getting your hair Kertain/ straightened? Avoid wasting those efforts by accidentally creating a curl in those straight locks by avoiding washing or water in general for at least 48hours to allow the bonds to set in! Do not use a hair tie or headband as it can leaves marks on the hair strand. Make sure you invest in products designed for straight hair – post-treatment a hair treatment is to be done every week a week after service to prolong the chemical service

These are just some basic tips that can help you get the most out of your treatment! If you’d like to learn more about our aftercare range, just ask one of our experienced Savvy team members and. They’ll be happy to answer any of your questions!

Sustainable? Yes!

Savvy Hair Artistry is excited to announce that we are now a sustainable salon! Yes, you heard us correctly; we’re going green.

Why is this a big deal?

Well, we think that everyone has a role to play in minimising our environmental footprint and we wanted to play our part by adopting sustainable salon methods.

How did Savvy Hair Artistry become a Sustainable Salon?

What’s involved in becoming a sustainable salon you ask? Well the first thing we did is get in touch with the team at Sustainable Salons and talk to them about we needed to do to join their amazing organisation and there were a few things we had to implement including:

  • Utilising their in-salon separation bins and outside collection bins
  • Recycle hair clippings which are collected from salon floor and stuffed into stockings to make hair brooms used in cleaning up oil spills as well as being used for composting
  • Adopt the usage of eco-cleaning products, recycled toilet paper, biodegradable coffee pods, towels and gloves!

We got into action and we’ve made salon wide changes to tick all the boxes.

We’re incredibly excited to be recognised as a sustainable salon and making a bit of a difference.

Sustainable Salons also works in partnership with the Endeavour Foundation, employing those with a disability in their material collection and processing teams. This provides them with meaningful work and allows them to build their own futures and become independent.
